How to reach us
By public transportation
The Campus of WU is located between the two U2 subway stations Messe-Prater and Krieau. The Library & Learning Center (LC) is roughly the same distance from each of the two subway stations (5–10 minutes).
- To access the Campus of WU from the west (WU Executive Academy, Administration, Department Buildings 3, 4, and 5, Library & Learning Center), please use the U2 subway station Messe-Prater, exit Messe.
- To access the Campus of WU from the east (Teaching Center, Student Center, Department Buildings 1 and 2, Library & Learning Center), please use the U2 subway station Krieau, exit Krieau.
Bus line 82A (stop Krieau) and streetcar line 1 (stop Prater Hauptallee) also stop close to Campus WU.
By car
The underground parking garage is located under the main boulevard running through the campus. The entrance to the garage is on Trabrennstrasse. The garage has 411 parking spaces; 180 spaces are for short-term parking, the rest is reserved for long-term pass holders. There are four exits to the campus from the garage. All exits lead to the outside, so that visitors can enter all campus buildings from their main entrances on the ground floor.
By plane
Most international carriers fly to Vienna International Airport VIE which is about 20 km away from the city center.
There are several options from the airport to the conference venue:
Local or suburban railway S7 ("Schnellbahn S7"):
Departure from the airport approximately every 30 minutes, travel time 25 minutes to station "Praterstern" (about 10 stops), change to the underground (U-Bahn) U2 and continue in direction "Aspernstrasse"/ "Seestadt" for one stop, get off at "Messe-Prater", or for two stops, get off at "Krieau". The single ticket for the suburban railway from the airport and one direction within Vienna costs € 4,40 at the ticket machine on the platform at the airport.City Airport Train (CAT):
The CAT transports you non-stop within 16 minutes to "Landstraße/Wien Mitte" every 30 minutes (return ticket € 19,- (17,-), single ticket € 12,- (11,-) - the cheaper prices in brackets are only valid if you book the ticket(s) online), From "Landstraße/Wien Mitte" continue your journey on the underground. Take U4 towards "Heiligenstadt" for 2 stops, change at "Schottenring" for U2 and continue in direction "Aspernstrasse"/ "Seestadt" for 3 stops, get off at "Messe-Prater", or for 4 stops, get off at "Krieau" - a ticket for one direction costs € 2,20.Vienna Airport Lines:
Coaches depart every 30 minutes to "Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz" (single ticket € 8,- return ticket € 13,-). Travel time approximately 50 minutes. From "Schwedenplatz" take the underground U1 towards "Leopoldau" for 2 stops, change at "Praterstern" to U2 in direction "Aspernstrasse"/ "Seestadt" for one stop, get off at "Messe-Prater", or for two stops, get off at "Krieau".Taxi/cab:
Several taxi companies offer a comfortable way to travel and depending on the time of your travel also a very quick way to get into town. Please reserve your taxi in advance to get the special airport tariff, approx. € 30,-
